Ipamorelin is a research-use-only synthetic pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) characterised as a selective agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor GHS-R1a (ghrelin receptor). In somatotroph models it engages Gq/PLC–IP3/Ca2+ pathways studied for GH release, distinct from GHRH-receptor cAMP signalling. Classic characterisation highlighted GH selectivity with limited ACTH/cortisol elevation versus earlier GHRPs. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
